托福(口语)历年真题试卷汇编17

简单回答问题

1.You will now be asked a question about a familiar topic. After you hear the question, you will have 15 seconds to prepare your response and 45 seconds to speak.

Do you like talking with your elders (uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc.)? Why or why not?

Talking with one’s elders can be interesting, but I really do not like it very much.

On the one hand, I admit, they have a number of interesting stories about the past.

Plus, they have a lot of experience we younger people do not have. But this is offset by two facts.

First, people do not learn from others’ experience. You may tell a small child the stove is hot. But he won’t believe you till he burns himself. In the same way, my elders’ warnings about what to avoid or do will not be heeded by me.

Second, older people repeat themselves a lot. They tend to have a dozen of so favorite stories they repeat again and again. This quickly becomes boring.

So, I am sorry and maybe it’s not respectful of me, but I don’t like talking to my elders that much.

2.You will now be asked to give your opinion about a familiar topic. After you hear the question, you will have 15 seconds to prepare your response and 45 seconds to speak.

If you have broken furniture or small appliances, do you prefer to have them repaired in a shop or try to fix them yourself?

If I have broken furniture or appliances, I prefer to fix them myself. I have two chief reasons for this.

First, it is cheaper. Here in the U.S., most repairmen have minimum fees they must charge. If they belong to a union, these can be quite high. By contrast, if I fix something myself, I only have to pay for the materials I use. My time is free!

Second, if I can fix the broken thing, I am a more independent person. I do not have to rely on repairmen and I learn something about how things are made or function.

So fixing things is a practical education that also makes my spirit stronger.

Besides, if I can’t fix something myself, I can always call a repairman after I fail!

解析: 1.审题,从题干中找出关键词及相关信息,即“broken furniture”“small appliances”,所以考生要谈家具和家电的问题。在具体指令中,有“repaired in a shop”跟“fix them yourself”两个短语,考生需要选择其中一个并结合细节来说明理由。

2.在第一时间联想自己曾经坏掉的东西以及它是如何修好的,这样比较有话可说。

3.You will now read a short passage and then listen to a talk on the same topic. You will then be asked a question about them. After you hear the question, you will have 30 seconds to prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak.

Activities on Campus

I am writing this letter to make a couple of suggestions about school activities here at Albion College. First, the college really ought to upgrade its theater and auditorium equipment. The lighting and sound systems are both antiques. Plus, the number of seats needs to be increased. I believe this could be done without too much remodeling. Second, to go with the new facilities, the school needs to set up an online system for buying tickets. I mean, I can buy a plane ticket to Kathmandu online. I should be able to buy a ticket to a basketball game or concert on campus the same way. The service would be both convenient and time-saving. So
