1. Do you think a manager should use foreign languages in daily work?
As far as I am concerned, a manager should speak foreign languages in routine work, especially in foreign companies. Firstly, speaking foreign languages, such as English and Japanese, can create a foreign environment for staff to practice and enhance the ability of their oral languages. Secondly, speaking foreign languages can keep reminding people that they are in an international background, so working diligently and professionally is of high importance. Lastly, foreign languages can gather staff from different countries as one team.
2. What ability should a manager have?
To be an excellent manager, he or she should firstly be an expertise in the professional field and can solve puzzling and complicated inquiries. Moreover, a good manager should also be a good leader. He or she can lead a team with charisma and nice personality. Thirdly, a good manager should combine a team together and strengthen the cohesive force.
3. Should a manager take all the responsibilities when things go wrong?
In my view, when things go wrong, it is both the manager and the teammates that should take all the responsibilities. Firstly, the manager cannot check and supervise all the workflows on behalf of the teammates, so it is very important for the staff to do the work more consiously and learn to double-check the work. Secondly, the manager can solve the problem and resist outside blames instead of his/her members, but it does not mean the manager should take all charge. It is a team but not individuals.
4. Is it important to learn more than one language?
It depends on the interest. Of course, learning more languages can bring lots of benefits to us. For example, more languages can provide us with a better platform to develop ourselves, and can also broaden our horizons to understand more cultures and backgrounds. However, in a fast-growing society, people may have no time to learn more languages, and they may deem it as a waste of time and then give up learning. On the other hand, if they have interests in learning languages, they may proactively learn them in their spare time.
