中国人把我们当作自己人。作为合作伙伴，他们分担我们的困难和担忧，与我们共同展望互利的未来。我自己就有着这样的亲身经历。我在巴基斯坦工作的中国同事和我们并肩工作，忍受着同样的酷热、淤泥、蚊子、低温、雨水等。我们共同分担忙乱的日程和每日的烦恼，在同一张桌子上吃饭，晚上一起踢足球，用USB设备相互交换各自的电影和电视节目。也许有些人不知道我在说些什么，因为他们并没有感同身受。但是作为一个巴基斯坦人，我知道我们国家给外界的印象就是贫穷、暴力、恐怖和动乱。当我们告诉别人我们来自巴基斯坦时，没人把我们当回事儿，完全不屑一顾。所以当中国代表在那次展会中热情地握住我的双手，并在那些诧异的观众面前称我们国家为兄弟时，当这个被视为第二个超级大国的国家向我们这个被西方宣传为失败的国家展现尊重时，这一切都对我们的人生产生了巨大影响。
