As is shown in the above picture, the couple greet each other via cell phones even though they sit side by side, which seems to be preposterous. But on second thoughts, the drawing reveals the adverse effects of cell phones abuse on the way people communicate, which is thought-provoking.

With the development of technology and economy, cell phones are being more and more widely used in our daily life. Indeed, it can bring convenience for our communication to a large extent However, it also exerts many detrimental impacts on the way people communicate. Firstly, people spend more and more time on cell phones instead of face-to-face contacts, but it is face-to-face contact that builds up intimate relationship between people. Secondly, some people are so addicted to playing cell phones that they neglect communication with the surroundings. Undoubtedly, it has a negative impact on shaping our sound personalities. Lastly, as communications via cell phones take place in the virtual world, people have difficulties in understanding other’s facial expressions or body languages, which may lead to unnecessary misunderstandings easily.

All in all, cell phones can not replace face-to-face contact, but play a role as a tool for convenient communication.
